Bukin's Blade is a worthwhile (but non-tradeable) reward item: a small fast-hitting UL shortblade that makes a good finishing weapon even for the most experienced avatar. It is a good reason for any colonist to do this mission sequence. You can probably only get Bukin's Blade once, and cannot buy one elsewhere, so do NOT cash it in at the trade terminal for half a PED!!! However, before you can talk to Alex Bukin, you need complete the mission sequence of Captain Hayes at 63229/74416, ending with "Blow Them All To Hell". Captain Hayes won't talk to you either, until you've been sent to him by either Lieutenant Smith (as reported in 2012) or Sergeant Saana (my experience just now 8/12/2015; same location as the previous Lieutenant Smith at 63225/74223). The entire sequence can be completed in an hour or two by an experienced player.
